But if we broadcast this file through the Windows Media Service 4.1 (on Windows 2000 Server) via the MMS protocol (over UDP), the video will freeze for few seconds and the sound will skip for around 1 second at some specified time, and the problem is repeatable at these specified points, we tested it on Windows

Streaming problem - MMS4.1 & WMP11
Here is my findings: - both the Render Media File menu and the manual insertion of the NetShowSource use the file selection dialog, but this will not pass the URL string as it is to the Load() method since it will try to bind it using an URL moniker, which fails with MMS URLs because there is no MMS protocol

WMP10 Mobile does not support mms protocol?
Yes
MMS is Microsoft's streaming media technology and is available primarily to WMP but can also be played (although I haven't tested it) through Xine (and maybe other players). Now the rules of the protocol have not been officially released, but there has been some good work by thet SDP team at

Alias publishing not working...
On the other hand, I expect that "application/x-oleobject" is not handled by Opera, so hopefully opera gives up and tries the <embed> instead... The <embed> is given with a "src=mms://something", which is an instruction to opera to use the mms protocol to download a bunch of data and then pass that to the plug-in.

WMP11 Problem
I am not sure if it is supported in the v11 player or not. However a v9/v10 player would not connect to a v9 server using MMS since it was not as functional as HTTP or RTSP. The MMS *rollover* protocol moniker was used in a URL to simply tell the player to use either the MMS streaming protocol,
